Ultimate Three-Cheese Melt

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, multigrain, or any preferred bread)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2-3 slices of tomato (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)
  • Dijon mustard or mayonnaise (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice with the softened butter.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Swiss cheeses.
  4. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, on the preheated skillet or griddle.
  5. Sprinkle a generous amount of the mixed cheese evenly over the bread slices on the skillet.
  6. If desired, add tomato slices, fresh basil leaves, a touch of Dijon mustard or mayonnaise, and a pinch of salt and pepper to taste on top of the cheese.
  7. Place the remaining bread slices on top of the cheese and toppings, buttered side facing upward.
  8. Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread turns golden brown, and the cheese melts completely, flipping the sandwiches halfway through.
  9. Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwiches from the skillet.
  10. Let them cool for a minute, then slice them diagonally and serve hot.
