Twisted Spuds Curly Fries

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Vegetable oil or peanut oil for frying
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste, for spiciness)
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Leave the skins on for added texture or peel them if preferred.
  2. Using a spiralizer or a vegetable peeler, cut the potatoes into long, thin spiraled shapes resembling curly fries.
  3. Place the spiralized potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and helps in shaping the curls.
  4. Drain the curly potato strands and pat them completely dry using a kitchen towel or paper towels.
  5. In a small bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  6. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a large, heavy-bottomed pot to around 350°F (175°C).
  7. Working in batches, fry the curly potato strands until they turn a deep golden brown and become crispy, for about 3-5 minutes per batch. Be careful not to overcrowd the fryer or pot.
  8. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the curly fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined tray to drain excess oil.
  9. Immediately sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the hot curly fries while they’re still fresh out of the oil. Toss gently to coat evenly.
  10. Serve the Twisted Spuds Curly Fries hot with your preferred condiments or dipping sauces.

These Twisted Spuds Curly Fries offer a fun, spiralized shape with a flavorful seasoning. Adjust the seasoning to your taste preferences for a spicier or milder flavor. Enjoy your homemade Twisted Spuds Curly Fries!
