Sage and Walnut Savory Scrolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, finely chopped sage leaves, grated Parmesan cheese, melted butter, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread the walnut and sage mixture evenly over the entire surface of the puff pastry sheet.
  5. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll up the puff pastry sheet into a log.
  6. Use a sharp knife to slice the log into approximately 1-inch thick scrolls.
  7. Place the scrolls on the prepared baking sheet, cut-side down, leaving some space between each scroll.
  8. Brush the tops of the scrolls with the egg wash using a pastry brush.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the scrolls are puffed and golden brown.
  10. Once done, remove the scrolls from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

These sage and walnut savory scrolls are fragrant and flavorful, with the earthy taste of sage and the crunchiness of walnuts. Enjoy them as a delightful snack or as a tasty addition to your meal!
