Oven-Fried Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 8 pieces of chicken (thighs, drumsticks, breasts, etc.)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken: Rinse the chicken pieces and pat them dry with paper towels. Place the chicken in a large bowl and pour the buttermilk over it, ensuring all pieces are submerged. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight.
  2. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Prepare the coating: In a shallow dish or bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Coat the chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece of chicken in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to coat both sides evenly.
  5. Prepare the baking sheet: Place a wire rack on top of a baking sheet to allow air circulation and prevent the chicken from becoming soggy. Lightly coat the wire rack with cooking spray or brush it with olive oil.
  6. Arrange the chicken: Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared wire rack on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake the chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken pieces. Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  8. Serve warm: Once the oven-fried chicken is cooked and crispy, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
