Mushroom Swiss Meltdown Burger

Ingredients:

For the burger patties:

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

For the mushroom topping:

  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms (cremini or button mushrooms)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme or parsley (optional)

For assembling the burger:

  • 4 burger buns
  • Crisp lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced red onions
  • Mayonnaise (optional)
  • Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mushroom Topping:
    • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
    • Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until they become golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
    • Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
    • Season the mushrooms with salt, pepper, and chopped fresh thyme or parsley (if using). Set aside.
  2. Cook the Burger Patties:
    • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.
    • Gently shape each portion into a patty, seasoning both sides with salt and pepper.
    • Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
    • Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
    • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.
  3. Assemble the Burgers:
    • While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns.
    • Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or Dijon mustard (if using) on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
    • Place a lettuce leaf on top of the sauce to create a base for the burger.
    • Add a cooked burger patty with melted Swiss cheese on top of the lettuce.
    • Spoon the sautéed mushrooms generously on top of each patty.
    • Add sliced tomatoes and red onions.
    • Cover with the top half of the bun.
  4. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve the Mushroom Swiss Meltdown Burgers immediately while they’re hot and the cheese is melted.
    • These burgers pair well with sides like oven-baked fries, potato chips, or a side salad.

Enjoy the rich and savory flavors of the Mushroom Swiss Meltdown Burger, perfect for mushroom and Swiss cheese enthusiasts!
