Ingredients:
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (or one packet)
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Additional melted butter for brushing (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, instant yeast, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the warm water and honey until the honey dissolves.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the honey-water mixture along with the melted butter.
- Stir the ingredients together until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more warm water, one tablespoon at a time. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour gradually.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Grease a clean bowl with oil or butter, place the dough inside, cover it with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release the air bubbles.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape them into rolls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each roll.
- Cover the rolls loosely with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes, or until they have puffed up.
- Optionally, brush the rolls with melted butter before baking to give them a golden finish.
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
Enjoy these golden honey wheat bread rolls warm with butter, alongside a meal, or as a tasty snack. They’re perfect for any occasion and are sure to be a hit with your family and friends!
