Chocolate Hazelnut Twists

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle.
  3. Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over the entire surface of the puff pastry sheet.
  4. Sprinkle the finely chopped hazelnuts over the chocolate spread.
  5. Fold the puff pastry sheet in half lengthwise, gently pressing down to seal the layers together.
  6. Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the folded pastry sheet into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  7. Take each strip and gently twist it a few times to create the twisted shape.
  8. Place the twisted chocolate hazelnut pastry strips onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each twist.
  9. Brush each twist with beaten egg using a pastry brush. This will help them achieve a golden color when baked.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.
  11. Once done, remove the twists from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
  12. Optionally, dust the cooled twists with powdered sugar before serving.
