Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
- 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle.
- Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over the entire surface of the puff pastry sheet.
- Sprinkle the finely chopped hazelnuts over the chocolate spread.
- Fold the puff pastry sheet in half lengthwise, gently pressing down to seal the layers together.
- Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the folded pastry sheet into strips, about 1 inch wide.
- Take each strip and gently twist it a few times to create the twisted shape.
- Place the twisted chocolate hazelnut pastry strips onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each twist.
- Brush each twist with beaten egg using a pastry brush. This will help them achieve a golden color when baked.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.
- Once done, remove the twists from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
- Optionally, dust the cooled twists with powdered sugar before serving.
These chocolate hazelnut twists are a delightful treat, with the indulgent flavor of chocolate hazelnut spread and the crunch of chopped hazelnuts in every twist. Enjoy them as a delicious snack or a sweet dessert!
