Ingredients:
For the burger patties:
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
For the guacamole:
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1 small tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 lime, juiced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
For assembling the burger:
- 4 burger buns
- Crisp lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced red onions
- Optional: Mayonnaise or chipotle mayo
Instructions:
- Prepare the Guacamole:
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
- Mash the avocados with a fork until slightly chunky.
- Add diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, minced garlic, lime juice, chopped cilantro, salt, and pepper to the mashed avocados. Mix well. Adjust seasonings to taste. Set aside.
- Form the Burger Patties:
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.
- Gently shape each portion into a patty, seasoning both sides with salt and pepper.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.
- Toast the Burger Buns:
- While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns.

- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or chipotle mayo (if using) on the bottom half of each toasted bun.

- Add a cooked burger patty with melted Swiss cheese on top of the lettuce.
- Spoon a generous amount of guacamole on each patty.
- Add sliced tomatoes and red onions on top of the guacamole.
- Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
