  • Anoxia

    The absence, or near absence, of oxygen. Anoxia can injure tissues of the body.

  • Anovulatory

     Not accompanied by ovulation, the release of an ovum (egg) from the ovary. For example, anovulatory menstruation. Synonymous with anovular.

  • Anovular menstruation

    Menstruation without ovulation. The egg stays within the ovary and usually disintegrates but sometimes it is fertilized, resulting in a life-threatening pregnancy within the ovary.

    The absence from birth of the external, visible part of the ear (the auricle).

    The failure of the development of or the loss of the sense of smell. Causes include conditions that damage nerve pathways that carry sensation from the nose to the brain. The most common causes are aging, nasal and/or sinus disease, prior viral upper respiratory tract infections, and head trauma.
