Bacon Cheddar Savory Twists

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked until crispy and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the chopped crispy bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley (if using), and black pepper. Set aside.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Roll it out slightly to smooth any creases and enlarge it slightly.
  4. Spread the bacon and cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry sheet, covering the entire surface.
  5. With a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry sheet into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  6. Take each strip and gently twist it a few times to create the twisted shape.
  7. Place the twisted bacon cheddar pastry strips onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each twist.
  8. Brush each twist with beaten egg using a pastry brush. This will help them achieve a golden color when baked.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.
  10. Once done, remove the twists from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
