Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, heat the pineapple juice until it’s warm but not boiling. Remove it from heat.
- In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk, granulated sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, salt, and eggs.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture and warm pineapple juice to the bowl with the butter, salt, and eggs. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Add more flour if needed, but keep the dough soft.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release the air bubbles.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape them into rolls. Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each roll.
- Cover the rolls loosely with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
- Optionally, brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter before baking to give them a golden finish.
- Bake the Hawaiian sweet rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
