Curly Potato Ribbons

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Vegetable oil or peanut oil for frying
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Keep the skins on or peel them based on your preference.
  2. Using a vegetable peeler or a mandoline slicer with a julienne or ribbon-cutting attachment, carefully cut the potatoes lengthwise into long, thin ribbons.
  3. Place the potato ribbons in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 30 minutes. This step helps remove excess starch and assists in shaping the ribbons.
  4. Drain the potato ribbons and pat them completely dry using a kitchen towel or paper towels.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a large, heavy-bottomed pot to around 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully add the potato ribbons to the hot oil, working in batches to prevent overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per batch, or until they turn golden brown and become crispy.
  7. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the Curly Potato Ribbons from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined tray to drain excess oil.
  8. Season the ribbons immediately with salt while they’re still hot, ensuring even coating.
  9. Serve the Curly Potato Ribbons hot as a garnish, a side dish, or a crispy snack.

These Curly Potato Ribbons offer an elegant and unique presentation with a crispy texture. Adjust frying times based on the thickness of the ribbons for optimal crispiness. Enjoy your homemade Curly Potato Ribbons!
