Curly-Q Crispy Fries

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Vegetable oil or peanut oil for frying
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Seasonings or spices (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. You can leave the skins on or peel them according to your preference.
  2. Using a spiralizer or a mandoline slicer with a spiralizer attachment, create spiral-shaped potato strands.
  3. Place the spiralized potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 30 minutes. This step helps remove excess starch and improves the fries’ texture.
  4. Drain the potato strands and pat them dry using a kitchen towel or paper towels.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a large, heavy-bottomed pot to around 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully add the curly potato strands to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the fryer. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per batch, or until they turn golden brown and become crispy.
  7. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the Curly-Q Crispy Fries from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined tray to drain excess oil.
  8. Season the fries immediately with salt while they’re still hot. Optionally, you can sprinkle additional seasonings or spices over the fries, such as paprika, garlic powder, or seasoned salt.
  9. Serve the Curly-Q Crispy Fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces or enjoy them as a side dish.

These Curly-Q Crispy Fries offer a fun spiral shape and a delightful crispy texture. Adjust the frying time based on the thickness of the strands for optimal crispiness. Experiment with different seasonings to customize the flavor according to your preferences. Enjoy your homemade Curly-Q Crispy Fries!
